Issued from Halcyon the day after. Four paragraphs. It is the only thing the Consortium has said about Field 41 in public, and every word of it was chosen.
A Consortium drone feed of the League camp, released with the statement.Statement on the incident at Impact Field 41
On the morning in question, Consortium salvage personnel working a registered cut at Impact Field 41 under the Salvage Accord of Nadir were approached by a large group of armed individuals who had entered the registered perimeter in breach of Article 7.
Consortium personnel did not fire. Following shots from within the group, Consortium security systems responded in accordance with their protection parameters. Consortium personnel were withdrawn without loss.
The Consortium regrets any loss of life and reminds all parties that Ringsalvage is Consortium property under the Orbital Property Accord. Persons removing it without authorisation do so at their own risk.
The Consortium considers the Salvage Accord of Nadir to have been breached and suspends its obligations under it with immediate effect.

What the belt heard
That the drones fired first, which every League witness says. That ‘security systems responded’ means nobody in the Consortium gave the order, which is a strange thing for a company to admit. And that the people on the field were ‘armed individuals’, which is one way to describe salvage crews with the rifles everyone in the belt carries.
